Did you know it is a misconception of shrimp being high in fat?
In fact, shrimp is generally low in total fat which also means it is low in saturated fat. It is a type of food that can be enjoyed in the healthy lifestyle without punishing your body for eating it. Shrimp can go with almost any type of food while maintaining a great seafood taste.
Besides the taste, shrimp when consumed carries numerous healthy benefits and we will be happy to break down the benefits of eating shrimp.
1) Protein
According to the Institute of Medicine, it is recommended for a person to get 8 grams of protein for every 20 pounds of your body weight on a daily basis. By eating about 6 ounces of shrimp, you will be able to get more than 34 grams of protein for your daily consumption. If you're working out intensively to gain muscle weight or trying to lose weight in the process, your body needs the protein to repair your damaged muscles.
2) Iron
Did you know you could become anemic if you do not get enough iron in your diet?
The answer is yes and the lack of iron could lead to fatigue, shortness of breath, and other health related issues. To make sure you take full of advantage from eating the shrimp, it is recommended to take vitamin C with your shrimp to absorb your iron intake.
3) Vitamin B-12
To prevent muscle weakness, vision issues, and other healthy related problems, a daily intake of B-12 vitamins can contribute to prevention. The recommended intake of vitamin B-12 is about 2.4 mcg per day, but eating 6 ounces of shrimp will contribute about 2 mcg's.
